Hi, I’m Jean-Biche :)

I've always been driven by curiosity, the need to follow one technique until it opens onto another. DJ-ing taught me nightlife ; nightlife pulled me toward performance ; performance demanded soundtracks (DJ-ing) but also costumes ; which led to hair and makeup. Not to forget illustrating & designing to communicate all of the above to my partners.

I’d say my bachelor in Drawing & Fashion from La Cambre helped me equally illustrating for The New-York Times & DJ-ing in the underground scene of Brussels and Flanders. Two worlds, same instinct — pay attention to what the moment asks for, and bring the right craft to answer it.

The only separation I make is whether it is a day or a night job : not only the economy but also the vocabulary changes whether you are a family-friendly environment, or an adult world.

The variety of my experiences is greatly appreciated by all of my business partners. It’s been largely accepted that I have to strip in clubs on weekends between two weeks of creation in a National Opera. In that regard, I could perform live with Michèle Lamy, then costume design for Marlène Saldana, DJ-ing in the Brandhorst Museum, teaching for the National Dance Center, stripping at club BO18.

Looking back at my experience after twenty-two years of self-taught artistry, there’s maybe one project that sums-up this restlessness : my own cabaret Bas Nylon. A collective created in 2011 is the ultimate interdisciplinary form of art & nightlife entertainment I can produce, and transmit to younger generations. It's my pleasure to keep learning new techniques that can finally answers the same calling.
